The responses to our stand and to our approach were amazing: freelance trainers, in-house L&D people, HR and OD consultants all loved the colour, the participative activities, and the sense of fun, as well as understanding and connecting with our holistic take on learning. Comments such as "a breath of fresh air", "a really effective and powerful approach" and "the best stand at the show" were wonderful to hear but why did people respond so positively?
Body: We ensure that learners are relaxed, we engage and stimulate all of their senses, we incorporate physical movement, and we include lots of practical, hands-on activities.
Mind: We help learners to analyse ideas, see different perspectives, and take part in problem-solving activities, all of which help to create new neural pathways in the brain.
Heart: We create a safe, supportive environment where learners care about, share with, and learn from each other. We also make learning memorable by generating powerful emotional experiences.
Spirit: We inspire learners to be playful, free, creative and imaginative. We help them to find and appreciate their own true nature and to connect with the energy of life itself in order to flourish.
Our experience at the show last week suggests that there is definitely a desire for a more holistic approach to learning. The surge of interest in techniques such as mindfulness, equine assisted learning, eco-leadership and so on show a desire to reconnect with ourselves and with nature, to be more loving and compassionate, to understand and work with energy, and to trust our intuition and animal instincts. This is heartening and exciting and I'm really looking forward to building on all the contacts that we made at the show and bringing our approach to many more people and organisations.
